61st celebration planned for Family Weekend
The 61st UNI Teacher Education Convocation and Celebration is scheduled during Family Weekend, October 5, 2024.
This special ceremony -- unique to UNI in its scope -- honors pre-service teachers who have met the criteria for acceptance into UNI Teacher Education and their overall commitment to the teaching profession. The event is an ongoing reflection of the legacy of generations of graduates from Iowa's leading undergraduate teaching program.
Students will be recognized as they walk the stage and receive the traditional commemorative pin as they celebrate this milestone in their journey.

The Celebration Returns
The tradition of the Teacher Education Convocation and Celebration paused during COVID-19, but was renewed with great anticipation in April 2022. Bailey Leitner, an elementary education major who attended, noted: “The keynote speaker kept saying that we’re the ones as teachers that are going to be making a difference. Some people say that, but they don’t always treat teachers that way. So it’s nice that we had this chance to actually be recognized—just us—and made a big deal out of.”
